Remember When I Told You
As the Lord was preparing to depart from planet earth back to Heaven, He went to great lengths to prepare His disciples. He knew that His leaving would be traumatic to say the least, so He gave them a promise of "another Comforter". The sense of feeling alone can be a powerful weapon in the hands of the enemy. God assured His disciples before He left that they would never have to fear being alone. That same promise holds true to us. The NIV uses the term Counselor, read this from the mouth of the Lord: John 14:6, "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever."
The word Counselor used here to describe the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit is a legal term, but with a broader meaning that "counsel for the defense". It refers to any person who helps someone in trouble with the law. Our adversary the Devil in scripture is called the Accuser of the Brethen, among other things. It's good to know that we have a friend that sticks closer than a brother, who's a lawyer too. 

The Holy Ghost has got your back.
